If the name Alex Da Kid is not overly familiar to you, you’d be forgiven. Nevertheless, there is no doubt that you would have heard the Grammy and Emmy-award winning music producer’s influence over the last couple of years in some of the biggest hits pop music has seen, be it in Eminem’s Love The Way You Lie (featuring Rihanna), Imagine Dragons’ Radioactive or even Airplanes by B.O.B and Hayley Williams.

Like his previous releases, Alex Da Kid’s latest single, Not Easy (featuring X Ambassadors, Elle King and Wiz Khalifa) is set to become a smash hit. Not only does it have a pop beat that is just dying for mass airplay, it combines the talents of some of the best artists on today’s music scene. The only question is, why are we only hearing of it now, given the song’s official release was back in October last year (according to iTunes)?
While that is a question only to be answered by those with more power than I, I will tell you that Not Easy is a great track that is hard to ignore.
In this ballad of sorts, X Ambassadors’ slick rock vocals pair beautifully with that of alt-country princess Elle King’s to weave a tragic storyline of heartbreak and tragedy. When combined with a short cameo by Whiz Khalifa, you know you’ve got something a little more special than the poppy auto-tuned tracks featured often dominating the radio these days.
